Open Gym and Sparring

Open gym is a time for anyone to drop in for extra help with technique or to workout with other members.

Sparring is a form of training. It is essentially controlled with reduced volume, intensity, power, speed, and impact as it simulates the actual fighting form or bout, with enough rules or agreements to make injuries unlikely. It forces students to improvise, to think under pressure, and to keep their emotions under control. The role of sparring is educational, but your physical fitness, mental awareness and heart will be tested and abilities will be worked. The physical nature of sparring is intended to develop skills and increase stamina with the goal of broadening the education of the participants.

The level of contact is light to medium and dictated by supervisor.
If you are interested in sparring, you must attend and have 5 Intermediate Muay-Thai Classes under your belt.

Schedule : Sunday 12:00noon – 1:30pm.

Required gear:

  • Hand wraps
  • Muay-Thai boxing gloves
  • Mouthguard
  • Muay-Thai shin guards
